Who Moved My Cheese?

My husband went to the auction Saturday Night and I told him to bid on a couple of books. There was one book inparticular that I wanted. "Who Moved My Cheese?" I had only wanted this book and I knew the only way to get it was to buy the whole box. That is just the way they sell books at auctions. So he bought me four (4) boxes of books because he didn't know which one I really wanted and I wasn't with him.

This book can really help you when you are at a certain job for a long time and think you are forever unmovable. A couple of years ago, I was like the little people characters in the book. I thought that I was deserving and couldn't be moved. Boy was I ever wrong. I was displaced. I felt torn up inside. I felt like the world just fell apart and I didn't understand why. I was what you would call, complasent. I had ownership of my space and no one could tell me different. My job was "My Job" and nobody else could do it better.
I was moved into a different job. Parts I hated but parts I loved. One perk was no phone. I could actually concentrate more on my typing speed with the job they had me doing. Plus I got to learn some other things about how the office worked that I didn't know.

If you know anything about me, you know I work for the state. I issue licenses for the Concealed Handgun Permit for Arkansas. I'm not a supervisor but I have been doing this job for over ten years now. I have had ups and downs but I stuck with it and I am glad I did. This book helped me when I was pulled away from a job I had known only how to do. Moving my cheese was one of the best eye openers about what I do and where I stand. I didn't own this book when that happened to me but a friend lent me hers. My co-workers understood. And I knew I had to get my hands on one for myself. It may not cost that much on Amazon but I find stuff at auctions real cheap or even at a yard sale, so why should I go pay full price when I can just look and wait.

So if you are reluctant to change, I would suggest this book. If you know of any other books I might read for this catagory, please let me know.
